An Overview of Pirana

Pirana is a comprehensive modeling workbench designed for RsNLME, NONMEM, and PsN, providing a graphical user interface and a suite of auxiliary tools to support modeling and simulation analyses. Pirana integrates smoothly with R, Xpose4, Excel, and other software.

Key Features of Pirana 

Model management:

Run, manage, and edit models.

Use wizards and templates to aid in model creation.

Include descriptions, notes, and coloring of models and results lists.

Display condensed or detailed model information; choose from list or tree views.

Create model duplicates with updated run numbers, table numbers, and parameter estimates.

Delete model files and all associated results and table files.

Results management:

See all dataset, output, Xpose4, and R script files in the main window.

Create formatted HTML and LaTeX run reports.

Use Data Inspector to investigate, e.g., goodness-of-fit plots and covariate analysis.

Run custom R-scripts for automated tasks (start one of Pirana’s prebuilt scripts).

View/Edit data files and Xpose4 datasets with a spreadsheet, code editor, or in R.

Convert between NONMEM table files and CSV format, and $DES code to Berkeley Madonna or R-deSolve code for simulation purposes.

NONMEM installation management:

Manage NONMEM installations locally and on clusters.

Monitor NONMEM run progression and display intermediate output.

Explore numerical and graphical views of parameters and gradients.

PsN integration:

Display/Edit PsN commands for executing a model (easy access to descriptions).

Choose the NONMEM version to use during execution.

Create scm configuration files.

Cluster support:

Create configuration files for NONMEM parallel computation features.

Have direct SSH access to computer clusters running NONMEM.

Install Pirana on a cluster server accessed by multiple clients through SSH-X-window tunneling.
