All plot objects, except Scatter Plot, have a Graphs menu that lists all plots in the object. Many objects have plots with names based on the variables that are mapped to the X, Y, or Y2 contexts. For example, if Time is mapped to the X axis and Concentration is mapped to the Y axis, the plot is named Concentration vs Time.
Plots listed under Graphs in the tree can vary depending on the mappings:
Mapping the Y2 axis lists two plots under Graphs. For example, if Time is mapped to the X axis and Effect is mapped to the Y2 axis, the second plot is named Effect vs Time.
Multiple mappings to the Y axis lists a separate plot for each mapped variable.
Mapping the Data Label context without mapping the Y2 axis or Group contexts lists one plot.
Mapping the Group context lists all variable values under the plot name in the Graphs menu. For example, if Subject is mapped to the Group context, then all Subject identifiers are listed under the plot name.
Multiple mappings to the Group context in order to create unique profiles lists each profile under the plot name.
Mapping one of the Lattice Conditions contexts without mapping the Y2 axis or Group contexts lists one plot under Graphs.
For Scatter Plots, there is no list of graphs, only a single Graph item that, when clicked, provides access to the Appearance tab for the plot.
Selecting a particular plot under the Graphs menu provides access to the following tabs of controls (tab and option availability depend on the plot type).
Define data display and how quartiles and whiskers are generated
Sort X values and specify offsets for multiple XY plots
Set up regression lines for XY plots
Specify appearance of data labels
Specify appearance of scatter plot diagonal labels
Specify appearance of error bars
Specify appearance for Group variables
Quick Styles tab: Switch the XY plot between a line and a scatter plot and set Group options
Note: The sequence of group appearance settings are retained when input dataset is changed or when a template or object settings are used. Click the Reset to Defaults button on the Appearance tab to return to the default Plotting settings (not applicable to histograms, QQ plots, and scatter plot matrices).
For XY plots, if more than one dependent variable is used in the same graph (does not apply to overlays), the sequence of attributes will be retained for the first dependent variable in a plot (Y or Y2) when new input data is used, even if the column names have changed. The sequence of attributes will also be retained for additional Y or Y2 mappings that have the same column names as the original data. However, if the column names are different for additional Y or Y2 mappings, the attributes will be reset to the Phoenix defaults when columns are remapped. To retain the attributes for additional dependent variables with different column names, use an overlay of graphs with the added graphs having one dependent variable. (This is due to a technical issue in the software with remapping additional dependent variables.)
