Options tab

The Options tab allows specifying settings for exponential terms, parameters, and output time points.

From the Exponential Terms menu, select the number of exponential terms in the unit impulse response to use per profile (up to nine exponential terms can be added).

From the Smoothing menu, select the method Phoenix uses to determine the dispersion parameter.

Automatic tells Phoenix to find the optimal value for the dispersion parameter delta.

None disables smoothing that comes from the dispersion function. If selected, the input function is the piecewise linear precursor function.

User allows typing the value of the dispersion parameter delta as the smoothing parameter. The delta value must be greater than zero. Increasing the delta value increases the amount of smoothing.

In the Smoothing parameter field, enter the value for the smoothing parameter.

This option is only available if User is selected from the Smoothing menu.

Check the Initial rate is 0 box to set the estimated input rate to zero at the initial time or lag time.

Check the Initial Change in Rate is 0 box to set the derivative of the estimated input rate to zero at the initial time or lag time.

This option is only available if the Initial rate is 0 box is checked and is always disabled when Smoothing is set to None (due to instabilities that occur in this case).

In the Dose Units field, type the dosing units to use with the dataset.

Or

Click the Units Builder […] button to use the Units Builder dialog to add dosing units. See “Using the Units Builder” in the Common Tasks documentation for more details on this tool.

In the Number of output data points box, type or select the number of output data points to use per profile.

The maximum number of time points allowed is 1001.

Select Output from 0 to last time point to have Phoenix generate output at even intervals from time zero to the final input time point for each profile.

Or

Select Output from _ to _ to have Phoenix generate output for each profile at even intervals between the time point values entered in the fields.

Select Use observed times from input worksheet to have Phoenix generate output at each time point in the input dataset for each profile.

Or

Select Use times from a worksheet column to use a separate worksheet to provide in vivo time values.

Selecting Use times from a worksheet column creates an extra panel called Observed Times in the Setup tab list.

The mapped worksheet must contain time values used to generate output data points to the Observed Times panel and cannot contain more than 1001 time points.
