Search

When using the Search functionality, the results are always files, not folders. A search will return files that:

Have a property matching the search criteria

Have content that contains the search criteria (text files or text datasets)

Have inherited properties matching the criteria (all files inherit properties from the parent (and their parents, back to the root)).

(In contrast, when using the Filter functionality, you are filtering root folders.)

search

On the Integral main window, click Icon_Search in the main toolbar.

In the Search page, with the Basic tab selected, type the query to search for and press the Enter key.

OR versus AND Searches

By default, an OR search is performed using the words entered in the query. For example, entering:
residual error
finds files where the word residual or the word error is found in the contents.

Entering:
residual AND error
finds files where both residual and error are found, but not necessarily next to each other. AND must be all capital letters or it will be included as a word in the query.

Exact Match Searches

Use double-quotes when an exact match is to be performed. Entering:
"residual error"
(double quotes included) finds files where the phrase residual error occurs.

Case Sensitivity

The search functionality is case insensitive.

Wildcards

The asterisk wildcard (*) represents multiple characters in a query. A question mark (?) represents a single character. For example, entering:
resid*
finds files that contain words starting with resid, like residual.

Entering:
m?crosystem
finds files that contain words with any character in the 2nd position, like macrosystem and microsystem.

The information button icon_info on the right side of the window provides a quick reference syntax list.

Additional filter options to Include deleted documents and to Include all versions can be specified by checking the corresponding box(es).

When the results are returned, you can optionally use the Refine Results list at the bottom left to select categories that were found to contain one or more matching items.

Select an item in the results list to display the contents in the panel on the right.

Notice that, on the far right side, there is a thumbnail of the overall file contents to help you track where the lines you are currently viewing are located in the file.

To locate a file in the repository, select the ellipsis next to the file and choose Home to be redirected to the exact location of that file within the Home screen.
